28 Jan Vietnam Vet Floored By Rolex Appraisal On Antiques Roadshow
I recently caught this great moment on Antiques Roadshow with this Vietnam vet and his very, very rare Rolex watch. When he found out what it is worth the Vietnam vet rolled to the floor in bewilderment, surely hearing the noise “ca-ching” as he hit the dusty floor beneath him. After the war, this man decided to celebrate by purchasing a Rolex Oyster Cosmograph with its full and untouched documentation. This model is from 1971 and as one commenter on the video put it:
This gentlemen is from West Fargo, ND, and I don’t think he had any idea of what kind of value this Rolex watch had. Near the end of the video, after the history of this watch was told you’ll find the appraisal portion just after the 4:45 time mark. It’s a wonderful video to watch from start to finish and this Vietnam vet certainly won’t have to worry about retirement. I imagine there are a few buyers already trying to get ahold of this bloke in order to make an offer of intent.
