15 Nov Bold New Oktopus Moon Tattoo Watch by Linde Werdelin
Swiss watchmaker Linde Werdelin has just released what may be its boldest timepiece design ever: the Oktopus Moon Tattoo. Featuring an exclusive in-house moon-phase complication, an elaborate hand-drawn octopus engraving, and an 18k rose gold case, this watch serves as an ambitious new vision of what a classic timepiece can look like. Taking the moon-phase complication inspiration to another level altogether, only 59 of this limited edition watch have been produced – 59 being the sum of two 29.5-day-long lunar cycles.
Linde Werdelin’s Oktopus series of watches was first introduced at Baselworld 2012, being composed primarily of anti-corrosive materials and featuring internal movements which are ideally suited to performing optimally even in the harsh aquatic environments related to the sport of diving. The decision to imbue this particular dive watch with a 3D-looking octopus engraving was not only a matter of aesthetics, but of seamlessly combining its thematic appearance with its functional use. Morten Linde, the creative mind behind many of Linde Werdelin’s watch designs, elaborates thusly: “The Oktopus Moon Tattoo is the perfect balance of contemporary art, technology and innovation; transporting poetry and imagination into the world of time keeping.”
With a water resistance of up to 300m and a power reserve of 42 hours, this limited series of Oktopus Moon Tattoo watches is sure to sell out fast. Their retail price is 42,500 CHF (approximately $46,281 USD), and they can now be purchased from one of many Linde Werdelin authorised retailers around the globe.
