08 Nov An Afternoon at Interior Design Show West in Vancouver
Back in September I spent an afternoon at IDSWest, a showcase of the best in interior design, furnishings and related services and products. This massive event is the West Coast edition of the Toronto based Interior Design Show (IDS). Pulling in over 31,000 attendees over 3 days, this event is a testament to Vancouver’s massive growth in luxury real estate and the demand for local interior designers. With these areas relating to fashion and design, local Vancouver image consultant Lauren Carbis joined me and also agreed to be my showroom model (visit her at LifescapeImage.com).
One of our favourite pieces at the show was the award winning Parabolica chair by Dutch brand Leolux. It allows for multiple positions with an armrest designed for a tablet or laptop. You can either sit reclined in it, like a normal armchair or swing your legs the other side to use the armrest like a mini-desk. For anyone who works remotely like me, this is the ultimate office chair. If you’re in the Vancouver area and want to check it out in person, you can find it at Inspiration Furniture.
Another favourite was this fun modular sofa from Roche Bobois called the MAH JONG. And if you think this sectional couch x floor cushion hybrid will look great in your hookah-equipped home theater, check it out at their Vancouver showroom.
Other highlights included were the locally designed tablescapes from the Dinner x Design event (for our post covering it, click here) and the fact that they had two bars for some afternoon drinks (could have been three, but lost count after two…).
